Johnson misses the Bash
The Queensland Bulls will not call on the services of Test squad fast bowler Mitchell Johnson for tomorrow's New Year's Day “Big Bash” in Toowoomba. Queensland Cricket Chief Executive Officer Graham Dixon confirmed today that Johnson would not join the Bulls for their opening KFC Twenty20 game at Heritage Oval tomorrow afternoon. “He's in the twelve for Australia for the Fifth Test and we wouldn't seek a release for him until after the game starts on Tuesday if he is named 12th man,” Dixon said. “Our selectors will no doubt liase with the National Selection Panel about the availability of Mitchell for Friday's Twenty20 game against New South Wales at the Gabba but that is down the track,” he said. The Bulls and Tigers players will travel to Toowoomba tomorrow morning for the match. The Tigers have not selected mid-season recruit Jason Krezja from NSW, but have included allrounder Damien Wright and Toowoomba-born batsman and part-time wicket-keeper Michael Dighton. |
