Mitchell Johnson has been granted leave from his 12th man duties with the Australian Test side to play for Queensland in its Twenty20 Big Bash clash with New South Wales on Friday. The paceman will replace Bulls skipper Jimmy Maher in the squad after he was ruled out with a calf injury. A decision on Maher's availability for the Bulls following Twenty20 fixtures against Victoria and South Australia will not be made until Friday. Queensland opened its Twenty20 campaign with an impressive win against Tasmania in Toowomba on Monday. Clinton Perren scored a blistering 82 from 37 balls while team-mate Nathan Rimmington snared a hat-trick to end any chance of a Tigers victory. Selectors will name a replacement captain and 12th man for the NSW game later in the week. |
