SA batting against Queensland at home
South Australian captain Darren Lehmann has won the toss and the Redbacks are batting first against Queensland in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash day-night match at Adelaide Oval. Conditions are hot, with the temperature having soared to 40C late in the day. SA included batsmen James Smith, 18, and Simon Roberts, 21, for their senor interstate debuts, and Nathan Adcock was the Redbacks' 12th man. Queensland omitted Michael Buchanan from a 13-man squad and Brendan Nash was 12th man. The Bulls must beat SA to be assured of playing against unbeaten Victoria at the MCG in the final on Saturday (January 13). But Tasmania will be Victoria's opponent if the Tigers defeat New South Wales at Telstra Stadium tonight and Queensland loses to SA. SA's only hope of qualifying for the final is to beat Queensland by a very big margin - to boost the Redbacks' net run rate - and for NSW to down Tasmania. Points after Victoria's five-wicket win against Western Australia at the MCG on Wednesday are: Victoria seven, WA and Queensland four each, Tasmania three, SA two and NSW none. |
