Bushrangers cruise to victory over Bulls

The Victorian Bushrangers started their KFC Big Bash campaign with a 3 run (Duckworth / Lewis) victory over the Queensland Bulls at the Gabba.

Chasing a total of 158 for victory the Bulls, who were defeat by the Bushrangers in last years Big Bash Preliminary Final, lost wickets at regular intervals and never troubled the Bushrangers target.

The Bulls started their run chase with an opening stand of 43 between James Hopes and Ben Dunk before Hopes was run out by Rob Quiney for 22.

The loss of Hopes caused the Bulls to collapse from 43/0 to 56/4 in the space of 3 overs as the Bushrangers increased their control on the game.

The Bulls started to battle back with Andrew Symonds and Craig Philipson enjoying a partnership of 34 before Symonds was caught by Dwayne Bravo off the bowling of Andrew McDonald.

The Bulls continued to lose wickets as the rain started to fall as the Bushrangers coasted to victory.

Earlier in the day the Bulls won the toss and elected to bowl first, they removed the Bushrangers first three wickets inside the first 3 overs for just 5 runs.

With Brad Hodge (0), Rob Quiney (4) and David Hussey (0) all back in the pavilion it was down to Ross Taylor to rescue the Bushrangers with Cameron White (19) offering support.

The Kiwi smashed the Bulls bowling attack around the Gabba with a quick fire 58 which included 4 fours and 3 sixes to breath some new life in the Bushrangers.

After Taylor departed Andrew McDonald (23) and Dwayne Bravo (36) continued the blitz to leave the Bulls needing to chase 158 for victory.
