Bulls in big trouble, Bushrangers on top

With a place in this years KFC Big Bash final up for grabs the Queensland Bulls collapsed under pressure from the Victorian Bushrangers at the Gabba ending their innings 149/5.

With millions on offer to the winners with qualification for the Twenty20 Champions League later this year the Bushrangers will be ultra confident of chasing such a low total.

The Bulls won the toss and Chris Simpson decided to bat first, it was a move which backfired as the Bushrangers bowler ran through the Bulls opening batsman with ease.

The Bulls started off well enough with James Hopes and Simpson sharing a partnership of 28 before the dangerous Simpson was bowled by Dirk Nannes for just 17.

It was the perfect breakthrough for the Vics and it left the Bulls batsman unsettled at the crease with Lee Carseldine (7) Andrew Symonds (1), Glen Batticciotto (3) and Craig Philipson (0) all going cheaply to leave the Bulls 54-5.

The Bulls were in deep trouble with almost 9 overs gone but with James Hopes (44) still at the crease there was still some hope for the home team. He was partnered with Ben Dunk (70) and the pair played brilliantly keeping the Bushrangers at bay to steer the Bulls out of danger with a partnership of 95.

Despite their heroics the Bushrangers will still feel comfortable chasing down the target.
