Impressive Stars cruise into semi finals
The Melbourne Stars sealed their place in the KFC Big Bash semi finals thanks to a comprehensive seven wicket victory over the Adelaide Strikers at the MCG.
The Stars cruised past the Strikers total of just 125 to set up a semi final clash with the Perth Scorchers at the WACA on Saturday night; the victory was set up by Clint Mckay (3-17) who excelled with the ball to leave the home side a simple run chase.
Despite the early loss of Rob Quiney (2) and Luke Wright (9), the Stars sealed victory thanks to David Hussey (41) and Cameron White (28) who shared a third wicket stand of 64.
It was a disappointing night for the Striker who crashed out of the tournament after a stuttering performance with the bat which saw the bowled out with three deliveries to spare.
Callum Ferguson offered some hope with a resistant 41 but with only support coming from Michael Klinger (25) the visitors were left needing to bowl the Stars out for less then 40 to seal the final semi final spot.
