Quiney and Hodge lead Stars to victory
The Melbourne Stars kept the pressure up on the Melbourne Renegades at the top of the Big Bash table thanks to a four wicket victory over the Hobart Hurricanes at the MCG.
The Stars chased down the Hurricanes victory target of 135 with five balls to spare to record a scrappy victory after the early loss of Luke Wright (1) after he was dismissed by Doug Bollinger (2-22) in the 3rd over.
Rob Quiney (35) and Brad Hodge (34) led the way before James (6) and Peter Handscomb (2) saw the Stars home to help the home side record their second win of the tournament.
It proved to be a disappointing night for the Hurricanes who lost their first match of the tournament after they were restricted to a total of just 134-8 after they were put into bat by the Stars.
Tim Paine (46), George Bailey (28) and Scott Styris (24) led the way but with no other batsman reaching double figures the Stars took control of the match thanks in part to an excellent bowling performance from Clint McKay (3-24).
