Sixers and Thunder suffer heavy defeats
The Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder both suffered days to forget after they suffered heavy defeats which left them both propping up the bottom of the Big Bash League..
The Sixers suffered a nine wicket defeat against the Adelaide Strikers thanks in part to an opening stand of 125 between Tim Ludeman (71) and Michael Klinger (53) who almost chase down the defending champions total of 135-6 single handily before the loss of Klinger in the 16th over.
The days other match saw former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting (63) score a half century for the Hobart Hurricanes to help them seal a 30 run victory against the winless Thunder.
Ponting helped the home side scored a mammoth total of 177-4 which proved to be enough after the Thunder were restricted to a total of 147-9.
