Renegades unbeaten streak comes to an end

The Melbourne Renegades unbeaten start to this years Big Bash League came to an halt after they slumped to a 51 run defeat against the Perth Scorchers at the WACA in Perth.

Shaun Marsh led the way for the home side with a quick fire 85 which included three boundaries and five sixes to help the Scorchers record a total of 187-3 after they were put into bat by Renegades skipper Aaron Finch.

Herschelle Gibbs (56) and Adam Voges (40) offered support to Marsh to leave the Renegades facing a run chase of 188 to keep their unbeaten start to this year’s tournament going.

The mammoth run chase proved to much for the Renegades though as Alfonso Thomas picked up (4-8) for the Scorches to help restrict the visitors to a total of just 136.

Ben Rohrer (52) offered some resistant’s with a well-deserved half century but with now real support he was unable to stop the Renegades slipping to a heavy defeat.
