Stuttering Sixers increase the Thunders misery
The Sydney Sixers increased the Sydney Thunders misery after they inflicted a sixth straight defeat on their city rivals thanks to a four wicket victory at Stadium Australia in Sydney.
Daniel Hughes (51) blasted a quick fire half century to help secure the Sixers their second victory of a disappointing tournament which is reflected in the fact that the defending champions only wins have been against the hapless Thunder.
Michael Lumb (20) and Brad Haddin (18) offered Hughes help through his innings as the Sixers chased down the Thunderís total of 132-6 with six balls to spare.
Having suffered their sixth straight defeat the Thunder will now be looking towards next summer already as their big hitting batting line up suffered another batting collapse.
With Chris Gayle (9), Chris Rogers (7) and Matt Prior (4) back in the dugout inside the opening six overs it was left to Usman Khawaja (66) to rescue the Thunderís innings but even his intervention wasn't enough to stop his side from slipping to another defeat.
