Paine leads Hurricanes to six wicket victory

The Hobart Hurricanes improved their chances of securing a place in the Big Bash semi finals after they sealed a six wicket victory over the Perth Scorchers at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

Tim Paine led the way with a quick fire 74 which included seven boundaries and two sixes to help the Hurricanes chase down the Scorchers total of 152-8 with nine balls to spare.

Ricky Ponting (34) and George Bailey (19) offered Paine support as the Hurricanes secured their fourth victory of the tournament to move up into third place in the table.

It proved to be a disappointing day for the Scorchers despite a fine innings from skipper Simon Katich who smashed 66 runs from just 41 balls before a later order batting collapse saw them lose five wickets during the last two overs.
