Renegades cruise to crushing 48 run victory
The Melbourne Renegades got back to winning ways to move back to the top of the Big Bash League thanks to a crushing 48 run victory against the Adelaide Strikers at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.
Having suffered their first defeat of the tournament against the Perth Scorchers on Saturday Night, the Renegades bounced back in commanding style thanks to Marlon Samuels (3-16) and Muttiah Muralitharan (3-18).
The spinners tore through the Strikers middle order to restrict them to a total of just 107 from 18.3 overs to leave them well adrift of the Renegades total of 155-6.
Tom Cooper (59) led the way for the home side with a quick fire half century, Ben Rohrer (35) offered support to leave the Strikers facing a victory target of 156 which proved too much.
