Hope leads Heat to 24 run victory over the Stars
The Melbourne Stars suffered a setback in their attempts to keep the pressure on the Melbourne Renegades at the top of the Big Bash League after they suffered a 24 run defeat against the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba.
Thisara Perera (3-18) and James Hope (3-28) picked up three wickets a piece to help the Heat restrict the Stars to a total of just 147-9 after the visitors were set a run chase of 172.
Luke Wright led the way with a patient 34 from 30 balls but with wickets falling at regular intervals the Stars slipped to just their second defeat of the tournament.
It proved to be a good night for the Heat who kept their chances of reaching the semi finals alive thanks in part to a quick fire 49 from Hopes who helped the home side record a total of 171-5.
