Sharks and Sabres complete the picture

The Sussex Sharks and Somerset Sabres have both qualified for this years Twenty20 Champions League after completing Semi Final victories in today's Twenty20 Cup Finals Day at Edgbaston.

The Sharks and Sabres qualified for October's inaugural Champions League after completing seven wicket victories over the Northants Steelbacks and Kent Spitfires respectively.

The victory for the Sharks over the Steelbacks will have been welcomed by both the ECB and Lalit Modi.

In the lead up to today's Finals Day it was announced that the Steelbacks would be banned from the Champions League because two of their players, captain Nicky Boje and all rounder Andrew Hall were still employed by the rebel ICL league.

This had left a cloud of uncertainty over the finals day especially with media reports in South Africa reporting Hall had already been in talks with an IPL franchise about taking part in next years IPL.

In the end the ban never came to fruition with the Sharks being victorious.
