Wayamba beat Victoria, win not enough

The Wayamba Elevens beat the Victorian Bushrangers by 15 but the victory wasn't enough to see the Wayamabe progress to the Champions League Super Eights group stage.

Wayamba Elevens thwarted Victoria Bushrangers in a low-scoring game but will still go home because they failed to secure a net run rate higher.

Victoria finished at 103-4 chasing just 119 at the Kotla. But they needed to score just 84 to secure the net run rate that would knock the Sri Lankan side out of the Champions League.

Brad Hodge made an uneaten 44 and it seemed Victoria were content with simply qualifying for the next round.

It also means that local team Delhi Daredevils are through to the next round. Yesterday, Royal Challengers had qualified by beating Otago. Tomorrow, Deccan Chargers must beat Trinidad & Tobago to secure their spot.

Electing to bat on another slow, low pitch, Jeevantha Kulatunga and Michael Vandort struck 42 each as the Sri Lankan side sat strongly at 85-1 in 14 overs. But a sensational collapse saw them lose eight wickets for just 25 runs in five overs.

Pacer Shane Harwood impressed again, taking 3-14 in four overs.
