Police release cricketer without charge

After a two hour delay because of a bombscare at the Chinnaswamy Stadium play will finally get under way at 17.40 IST with the Cobras facing the Bushrangers in a 17 over contest.

The Bangalore Police have released without charge Pervez Rasool, 21, who was arrested in connection with a bomb scare at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore this morning.

A media release from the Champions League organisers said "Following a regulation security sweep of M.Chinnaswamy Stadium this morning, police were called to investigate a suspicious bag."

"A young man was taken for questioning by police but he has subsequently been released without charge. Police and security experts have checked the stadium twice, as well as the suspicious bag, but nothing of concern has been found. As a result, the stadium has been given the all-clear for tonight’s matches to proceed."

Play had been delayed for over two hours while Poilce made a finger tip search of the stadium before giving the all clear.
