Bushrangers elect to bat against Cobras

Victoria Bushrangers skipper Cameron White won the toss and decided to bat against Cape Cobras in their super eight Champions League T20 match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

The match was delayed by one hour after an under-22 cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir staying at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore was arrested by the Bangalore police in connection with a suspected presence of explosives at the venue.

However, Bushrangers are virtually through to semis after their comprehensive win over Royal Challengers Bangalore, but they would still look to consolidate their position and leave no stone unturned against Cape Cobras.

Victoria put up a spirited performance to beat Bangalore team by seven wickets on Thursday and would confirm their berth in the final-four stage with sheer dominance if they overcome the South Africans in the league B encounter.

While Cobras, who made it to the second round after topping the Group C, would like to maintain their winning spree in the 12-team event. They beat both the Royal Challengers and Otago Volts in the first round.

Skipper Andrew Puttick, who has cracked a century and figuring second in the list of highest run getters of the tournament, would be the mainstay of Cobras' batting order.

But they would also rely heavily on the likes of middle-order batsman J P Duminy and experienced Herschelle Gibbs for some timely contributions.

Meanwhile, experienced Brad Hodge and David Hussey would lead the Victoria batting department with the trio of captain Cameron White, Aiden Blizzard and Andrew McDonald also have to chip in with the bat.

The Bushrangers looked a promising outfit when they went off to a winning start in the tournament, beating Delhi Daredevils, but soon lost their rhythm and suffered a 15-run defeat at the hands of inexperienced Wayamba Elevens of Sri Lanka.
