Champions League location remains unclear

The location of this years Champions League remains unclear despite the South African Cricket Board (CSA) announcing they were hosting the event yesterday afternoon.

The press release from the CSA stated the 2010 Twenty20 Champions League would be played in South Africa after the CSA had agreed a deal with Lalit Modi, within a few hours Modi responded via twitter saying no final decision had been made.

"News that SA hosting Champions League incorrect. They are a hot contender definitely. Also who are invited to play still to be decided." he said.

"Many countries in the running to host Champions League. We will keep you posted as and when we decide. India is also a contender to host Champions League. Middle east also a contender to host Champions League" he added.

"Australia also a contender to host champions league. So is England a Contender. The dates are 10 sep to 26 sep 2010. That's the only thing decided."

After hosting last years Indian Premier League South Africa remain clear favorites to host the Champions League but it would appear a deal is far from complete with stiff competition coming from Dubai after hosting a successful Twenty20 World Cup qualifies competition earlier this month.
