Royal Challengers rocked by Kallis injury

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s hopes of reaching the knock out stages of the Twenty20 Champions League have been hit by the news that Jacques Kallis had been forced out of the tournament with a neck injury.

The South African all rounder’s injury has affected his lower cervical and upper thoracic spine meaning the Royal Challengers go into today’s make or break game against the Highveld Lions without one of their star players.

"Kallis is carrying a neck injury that has affected his lower cervical and upper thoracic spine. As a result Cricket South Africa's medical team have advised him rest to recover for the country's upcoming international commitments," said a team spokesman.

With the IPL player auction set to take place in November it is also possible Kallis has played is last game for the franchise unless he is one of the players the Royal Challengers decided to retain.
