Bravo leads T&T to opening victory over Ruhunu
Darren Bravo helped Trinidad and Tobago see off a spirited fight back from the Ruhunu Elevens to secure a five wicket victory in the opening game of the t20 Champions League qualifiers.
Despite losing two early wickets in the opening three overs, Bravo (44) helped the Caribbean side complete victory in the penultimate to successfully chase down Ruhunu’s total of 134-5.
With wickets falling around him, Bravo played an anchor role to lift T&T into a winning position before Sherwin Ganga came to the crease and blasted 39 runs from just 15 deliveries.
Having chosen to bat, Ruhunu got off to a fantastic start thanks to a half century from Dinesh Chandimal before a lower order batting collapse saw them lose four wickets in the final over.
Before the collapse Chandimal, TM Sampath (23) and Janaka Gunaratne (20) had looked to put the Sri Lankans in a commanding position but having recorded a below par total they were unable to keep T&T at bay.
