Ruhunu keep qualification hopes alive
The Ruhunu Elevens kept alive their hopes of reaching the t20 Champions League group stages thanks to a four run victory over the Leicestershire Foxes at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The victory leaves the Sri Lankanís waiting on the result of tonightís clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Somerset Sabres; should either side lose heavily Ruhunu could still qualify.
Despite a quick fire 68 from opener Abdul Razzaq, the Foxes failed to chase down Ruhunuís total of 154-8 thanks to a middle wicket collapse which saw them loss four wickets in the space of four overs.
Having qualified for the tournament by winning the Friends Life t20 title in August, the Foxes crashed out of the tournament in disappointing style, losing both of their group games.
The foundations for the Sri Lankanís victory was built by Dinesh Chandimal (62), who celebrated his call up to the national squad by smashing six boundaries and two sixes during a brilliant 51 ball innings.
