Snell and Compton steer Sabres to victory

Steve Snell and Nick Compton held their nerve to steer the Somerset Sabres to a thrilling five wicket victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Faced with a run chase of 162, Compton (19) and Snell (6) shared a 6th wicket stand of 23 to help the Sabres seal their second straight victory over the Knight Riders.

The IPL franchise took control of the game early on thanks to big contributions from Jacques Kallis (74) and Yusuf Pathan (39), but once again their bowlers were unable to defend a competitive total.

Roelof van der Merwe (73) and Peter Trego (28) lead the Sabres run chase thanks to a second wicket stand of 105 which put the English county on top.

The Knight Riders fought their way back into the game with three quick wickets but with the tension mounting Snell and Compton played superb cameos to seal an impressive victory for the Sabres.
