Titans and DareDevils seal one sided victories
The Nashua Titans and Delhi DareDevils both got their t20 Champions League campaigns off to winning starts thanks to a pair of comprehensive wins at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
The DareDevils lead the way thanks to a crushing 52 run victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders who slumped to 3-4 inside the first two overs as they tried to chase down the DareDevils total of 160-8.
Manoj Tiwary (33) offered some hope but the defending IPL champions never recovered after their poor start and were restricted to a total of 108-7 thanks in part to impressive bowling performances from Umesh Yadav (2-13) and Irfan Pathan (2-19).
There was another one sided victory in the first game of the day after the Titans cruised to a 39 runs victory over the Big Bash’s Perth Scorchers who failed to chase down the Titans total of 163-4 despite a quicker fire half century from Mitchell Marsh (52).
The Titans victory was set up by Jacques Rudolph who smashed 83 runs which included nine boundaries and three sixes before Cornelius de Villiers (3-16) picked up three wickets to help restrict the Scorchers to a total of 124-7.
