The allrounder, previously of Border and the Warriors and who now plays for the Highveld Lions, learnt yesterday that he had been selected to represent the South African Pro20 team to play in an international against the touring Indian team at the Wanderers on Friday.
He has already represented the South African Sixes squad in Hong Kong twice as well as South Africa A on a number of occasions, but for Henderson this is the big time. “To be honest, I was surprised when I got the call-up,” Henderson said yesterday.
“But I‘m very happy. I haven‘t really done anything outstanding this season yet, but I‘m going to go out there and enjoy myself.
“I just hope that I get an opportunity on the field,” he added.
The South African team is packed with big-hitters, and there will be precious few “dot-balls” on display.
But that‘s the nature of the game – it‘s a slog from ball one and no bowler is spared.
In the SA team along with Henderson are the Titans‘ Justin Kemp and Albie Morkel, the Eagles‘ Roger Telemachus, Loots Bosman and Johan van der Wath, and the Warriors‘ Robin Peterson.
