The Steelbacks are ready to thrive on the buzz according to coach David Capel.
The Twenty20 competition gets underway tomorrow night with the visit of Worcestershire Royals to Wantage Road and it promises to be another few weeks of exciting entertainment and Capel can't wait for it to start.
"I think we all look forward to it – staff, players and fans alike," he said.
"There is no question it is an exciting competition to be involved in and our ambition is to play, compete and entertain. I have noticed a good atmosphere around the ground even during the Championship and one-day matches. There is a feeling that our supporters are really behind us and willing us to do well."
"So on a Twenty20 night I would anticipate that will be intensified even more. That would be great for us because all of our players thrive on that buzz and support. They have noticed the positive tone and will be trying their best to produce some winning performances."
The bad weather, however, has hampered preparation with very little chance of proper practice. But while that is a concern to Capel he is more worried about the effect it could have on the club long-term should the competition be interrupted.
He added: "We'd have liked to have done a bit more (outdoor practice). That has not been possible. But the groundstaff have done really well and have enabled us to get out a bit. The concern is this weather will go on and on. What we want to see over the next few weeks is cricket grounds full of people enjoying themselves and having fun."
"That will, hopefully, keep them coming back in future years if they've had a good time and not been put off by the rain. We'll certainly be trying to get out and play as much as we can and do our best to go a long way in this competition."
Tickets are still available for tomorrow's clash with the Royals which starts at 5.30pm.
There is no parking in the ground with supporters asked to use Abington Park instead.
