It was a disappointing start to the Twenty20 Cup for the Steelbacks and Royals as heavy showers forced the game to be abandoned without a ball being bowled at Wantage Road.
After two pitch inspections by the Umpires Neil Bainton and George Sharp the game was scheduled to start at 19.29 but a heavy shower 5 minutes before play was due to start ended any hopes of a 5 over smash.
The Steelbacks now turn their attentions to Sundays clash at Taunton against the favourites the Somerset Sabres.
