Steelbacks coach David Capel admits he is amazed by the conditions that again scuppered any chance of his side playing cricket.
Everything was set for a great evening of Twenty20 cricket at Milton Keynes' Campbell Park ground – TV cameras, a capacity crowd and two sides in need of points.
But the weather intervened to frustrate everyone once again, and Capel said: "I had a chat with Geoff Miller and John Steele, who has been involved with the game for nearly 50 years.
"They were both here for the game and neither of them can remember anything like this month – neither can I. It's just absurd.
"I don't like to use that word demoralising – but it is. You can't escape it.
"It is deflating to get up for a game in front of big crowds and with big entertainment and then not play.
"It is so disappointing that we can't get out there and achieve what we want to achieve."
Now attention turns to Wednesday's clash with Warwickshire Bears and the need for play and points.
Capel added: "In terms of the competition we were three points behind Gloucestershire so we desperately wanted to play.
"If we had won we would have gone a point behind with two home games left."
