The Twenty20 cricket spectacular attracted a healthy crowd to support the Tasmanian Tigers as they took on the Western Warriors.
One of the aims of the Twenty20 cricket concept is to attract young families and new fans.
The shorter form of cricket and the late start to games is tailored to families with younger children who would not go to a full-day match.
Mark and Donna O'Neill took daughters Sophie, 6, and Charlotte, 4, to their first cricket match yesterday.
"A cricket match is usually too long a day for these guys to sit through," Mr O'Neill said. "They just can't sit still for long enough."
The Geilston Bay family watched the match from the grassy hill where their daughters were entertained by music and the popular jumping castle.
"They have been in the jumping castle for most of the day," Mr O'Neill said. "There is entertainment for them, which makes it a bit easier."
He said the family had enjoyed the game and would likely attend more.
"The three-hour format really suits us. We came to a One-day International last year but we didn't bring the kids. This is a lot more family orientated."
Roving entertainers, a band and music kept the crowd entertained and in good spirits throughout the match.
