Leicestershire are on course to sell out all their Twenty20 Cup matches this summer
as anticipation builds towards the launch of the 2004 competition. The club have
reported huge demand for tickets to see the Foxes, who reached the semi-finals
of the inaugural Twenty20 Cup last year before losing to Warwickshire at Trent
Bridge on finals day. Leicestershire have two Twenty20 Cup matches at Grace Road
this summer, with the first against Durham on July 7 followed six days later by
the meeting with Nottinghamshire.
Fans who have not yet booked tickets for the explosive three-hour matches have
been urged to act quickly if they want to guarantee a place. Leicestershire's
operations manager Gus Mackay said: “The whole club is buzzing about this
year's Twenty20 Cup as it's going to be huge. With more than 50% of tickets already
sold, it's likely that the games will sell out in advance, a rare occurrence in
county cricket.”
Sales and marketing manager Tracey Stevenson said: “We anticipated a big
response to this year's competition after the success of 2003 and, with only two
home games, Twenty20 Cup games were the first to be snapped up by our corporate
clients when the fixtures were released. We are now fully booked for our game
against Nottinghamshire, although we do have limited availability for the Durham
game on July 7. Match tickets are selling like hot cakes and this year's events
will be amazing. I can't wait!”
Advanced tickets are available priced £6 for adults, £15 for families
(two adults and two under 16's) and £3 for concessions. For tickets and
information call the club on 0871 2821879 or buy online at Leicestershire
CCC.
