Surrey have announced that their Twenty 20 Cup match against Kent at the Brit Oval is already a sell out on Friday, July 9th. 6,000 tickets have been sold at the Brit Oval and every seat in the ground will be filled as the innovative format goes from strength to strength.
The Brit Oval is undergoing a £25 million redevelopment and the first stage is due for completion in time for the visit of the West Indies in the final npower Test match. This will take the capacity to 17,500.
Paul Sheldon, Chief Executive of Surrey County Cricket Club, said: "This is a great piece of news for cricket. With the reduced capacity we believed that we would sell out, but to achieve it so far ahead of the game is fantastic."
"Twenty20 cricket has proved to be a real success and the team is looking forward to defending its title. These are exciting times for cricket and for Surrey County Cricket Club."
