Chris Read has received a welcome boost by being named as Nottinghamshire Outlaws captain for this season’s Twenty20 Cup.
The 25-year-old was dropped from the England side in favour of Geraint Jones, but has since hit two Frizzell County Championship centuries and averages more than 50 in both one-day and four-day competitions this season.
His first match in the 20-overs-a-side format this season will be against the Durham Dynamos at Trent Bridge next Friday (July 2).
Read said: “It’s going to be an interesting few weeks for me and I’ll need to learn quickly, but I’m really looking forward to leading out the lads.”
