Lancashire ensured their Twenty20 campaign got off to a flying start as they beat Leicestershire by 52 runs at Grace Road.

It was Lancashire who batted first with New Zealander Lou Vincent making 31 from 26 balls at the top of the order.

Stuart Law chipped in with 22 from 17, but it was South African Francois de Plessis who ensured they posted a competitive total as he carved 45 from 34 as Lancashire finished on 157-7 from their 20 overs.

Leicestershire suffered an early blow in their response as they quickly lost key man HD Ackerman leg before to returning England hero James Anderson for just seven.

Fellow opener Matt Boyce offered some resistance with 31, but the only other home player to make any real impression was Paul Nixon with 37 from 32 balls.

However, he was offered no support as Leicestershire's final six batsmen all departed for single figures, the hosts eventually slumping to 105 all out off 18.5 overs.
