Ed Smith and Owais Shah made a rip-roaring start to the Middlesex innings, scoring at 13 an over for the first 10. One over from Craig McMillan went for 28, featuring four boundaries and two sixes from Shah, who struck 72 from 30 balls.
Hampshire's eight-bowler attack then put the brakes on, though Middlesex finished with 210, beating the previous highest Twenty20 score at the ground by 31.
