Kent achieved revenge for last summer's Twenty20 Cup final defeat by hammering Middlesex under the lights at Lord's.

Martin Van Jaarsveld smashed 75 not out as Kent piled up 191-3, supported by Darren Stevens' unbeaten 59 in just 26 balls (with one six and 10 fours).

But Middlesex were no match, following Monday night's 57-run local derby loss to Surrey with an even worse defeat.

This time the holders reached only 129-8 as Kent won by 62 runs to earn their first Twenty20 win of 2009.

Geraint Jones also put in en entertaining cameo for Kent, smashing 30 off just 18 balls.

But, in reply, despite having England duo Owais Shah and Eion Morgan back in their line-up, only Middlesex skipper Shaun Udal made more than 20.
