Kent will include new signing Shahid Afridi in their squad for the Twenty20 Cup
opener against Middlesex. Fast bowler Mohammad Sami has been called away this
week to join Pakistan’s preparation for the Asia Cup and Afridi will stand
in for the rest of the season.
Australia international Andrew Symonds will skipper the side, but he will be without
the services of Robert Key and Geraint Jones who are involved with the England
squad during the NatWest Series against West Indies and New Zealand.
Middlesex have named Dutch international Daan Van Bunge in a 13-man squad. Van
Bunge, who was a member of Holland’s World Cup squad, is in fine form having
struck a century off just 38 balls whilst playing for the MCC Young Cricketers
against Surrey U19’s recently.
The Dutch star will be making his debut for Middlesex in all competitions this
season alongside Tom Savill. Ed Joyce will skipper the side with Chad Keegan leading
the bowling attack alongside Ben Scott.
