Warwickshire will entertain Somerset in their opening Twenty20 match without the
services of skipper Nick Knight. The former England international is suffering
from a hand injury and will not be risked for the clash.
In Knight’s absence all-rounder Dougie Brown will lead the side and he said:
“The squad are looking forward to playing Twenty20 again as we love the
excitement it brings, and playing with music is always great as it gets the adrenalin
really pumping.”
Somerset will be missing several key players. Pace bowler Richard Johnson is still
sidelined with an ankle injury, while Keith Parsons (torn muscle in his back)
and Carl Gazzard (finger) are doubtful. England duo Marcus Trescothick and Ian
Blackwell are both away on international duty during the NatWest Series involving
New Zealand and West Indies.
