The BBCI has granted the Northamptonshire Steelbacks a 'no objection certificate' for Virender Sehwag allowing to play in this summer Friends Provident t20.
The Indian batsman will likely miss two weeks of the Steelbacks Friends Provident t20 campaign to play for India in the Asia Cup but the Steelbacks don’t expect Sehwag to be picked for a tour of Zimbabwe earlier in the month.
"The fact he's likely to miss a few of our games is just par for the course," said Steelbacks chief executive Mark Tagg. "To get a cricketer of his calibre - an Indian superstar - is a massive coup for a county like us.
"Yes, it's disappointing that we'll lose him for a few dates. But the overall impact is a huge benefit to the club. We had a supporters' lunch at the County Ground and when I told them he was definitely coming there was a loud cheer!"
"People are really excited about it," Tagg added.
