Warner joins Middlesex for Twenty20

The Middlesex Panthers have announced the signing on Australian big hitter David Warner for this summers Friends Provident t20..

The 23 year old will join up with his team mates at Lords after the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies.

Warner, who scored a century for the Delhi DareDevils in the IPL last week said it’s fantastic opportunity to play at Lord's and Middlesex win the tournament.

Middlesex’s Chief Executive Vinny Codrington said the Panthers had watch Warner during in century innings for the DareDevils and they knew he was the man for them

“We are absolutely thrilled to announce David Warner as our second FP t20 signing. David is a batsman of undoubted talent and is one of the most explosive and exciting batsmen in international t20 cricket,” said Codrington.

“We’re thrilled that David chose to join Middlesex, ahead of the other English counties that were chasing him, and we are in no doubt that he’ll prove equally as popular as Phillip Hughes, who made such an impression when he joined us last year,” he added.

Warner, who scored 89 runs on his Twenty20 debut for Australia last year against South Africa will form a formidable opening partnership with former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist.
