The Northamptonshire Steelbacks slipped to their second Friends Provident t20 defeat after suffering at the hands of Andrew McDonald who helped steer the Leicestershire Foxes to a 12 run victory.
Set a total of 150 to win from 18 overs the Steelbacks started off brightly thanks to Mal Loye (39) but the Fixes remain in control thanks to Nadeem Malik who picked up four wickets.
With only skipper Andrew Hall (27) offering any support to Loye the Steelbacks ended their innings 12 runs short to start this years Friends Provident t20 in disappointing style after reaching last years Twenty20 Cup Finals Day.
Having batted first the Foxes held the upper hand at the County Ground thanks to McDonald inning’s of 49 which helped the visitors reach 149-8.
Despite missing out on an impressive half century McDonald enjoyed a 2nd wicket partnership of 58 with Brad Hodge after Jacques du Toit was ran out from the very first ball of the game.
The Aussie pair who both play State cricket for Victoria took control of the game with McDonald looking in impressive form smashing 2 huge sixes out of the ground.
Although McDonald’s innings came to an end in the 13th over after he was dismissed by Nicky Boje; all rounder Claude Henderson smashed a quick fire 32 from just 14 balls to give the Foxes the upper hand.
