Falcons struggle as bowlers hold the advantage

The Derbyshire Falcons struggled on a slow wicket setting the Warwickshire Bears a total of just 121 to chase for victory at the County Ground in Derby.

Put into bat by the Bears the home side lost the wicket of big hitting opener Loots Bosman (0) at the end of the first over after the South African was bowled by Chris Woakes.

Bosman partner Chris Rogers (4) soon followed as the Bears increased their pressure.

With the bowlers on top Falcons skipper Greg Smith scored an important 38 run before he was dismissed by Ant Botha in the 15th over to leave Wes Durston (17) and Robin Peterson (35) to build a scrappy partnership of 28.

Despite such a low score the Falcons will hope their total of 120-4 will be enough on a tricky batting wicket.
