Ian Bell scored an impressive half century to lead the Warwickshire Bears to a thrilling 4 wicket victory over the Derbyshire Falcons.
Despite being set a total of just 121 by the Falcons; the Bears made a poor start losing Jonathan Trott (0), Neil Carter (2) and Jim Troughton (2) inside the first 5 overs to leave the visitors 25-3.
With the Bears top order back in the dug out Bell, having scored a hundred against Bangladesh at Old Trafford last week came to the crease and slowly built his match wining innings in partnership with Darren Maddy.
The pair built a 4th wicket partnership of 58 before Maddy was dismissed by Greg Smith as the Bears suffered a wobble with the winning line in sight.
Bell (66) soon followed as the Bears lost 3 more wickets in the space of 14 balls to leave Chris Woakes to hit the winning runs with only 4 runs to spare.
Earlie, having been put into bat by the Bears the home side lost the wicket of big hitting opener Loots Bosman (0) at the end of the first over after the South African was bowled by Chris Woakes.
Bosman partner Chris Rogers (4) soon followed as the Bears increased their pressure.
With the bowlers on top Falcons skipper Greg Smith scored an important 38 run before he was dismissed by Ant Botha in the 15th over to leave Wes Durston (17) and Robin Peterson (35) to build a scrappy partnership of 28.
