The Surrey Lions suffered another disappointing defeat much to the displeasure of the Brit Oval crowd after the Essex Eagles held on to record a 9 run victory.
After losing by 10 wickets against the Gloucestershire Gladiators on Tuesday night the Lions were desperate to bounce back but their big hitting top order failed to hit their stride with Andrew Symonds (7) and Younus Khan (0) falling successive balls from Ravi Bopara.
Having been set a total of just 122 for victory the Lions lost wickets at regular intervals to fall 9 runs short to remain bottom of the South table.
Having been put into bat by the home side the Eagles suffered their own battle woes with Grant Flower (24) top scoring in a game dominated by the bowlers.
