Mark Ramprakash scored a vital half century to help the Surrey Lions reach 160-7 after a poor start against the Somerset Sabres at the County Ground in Taunton.
Ramprakash came to the crease after the Lions had lost two early wickets and built a patient innings whilst sharing a 5th wicket partnership of 80 with Younis Khan before Alfonso Thomas struck at the end of the 16th over to remove Ramprakash (59).
Despite Ramprakash’s 20th Twenty20 half century the Lions will still be disappointed with the top order which failed to fire with Steve Davis (18), Rory Hamilton-Brown (6) and Gareth Batty (0) all failing with the bat.
Andrew Symonds (6) also struggle suffering his third failure in three games after he was caught James Hildreth in the 7th over.
Thomas (3-27) was once against the pick of the bowlers and his effort on another good batting track at Taunton will leave the hosts on top.
