The Lancashire Lightning hold the upper hand in tonight’s Roses clash after restricting Yorkshire Carnegie to a total of 155-6 at Headingley.
Anthony McGrath top scored for the home side with an innings of 73 but with support only coming from Andrew Gales (34) Yorkshire will be disappointed with such a low sore.
Having won the toss Gales deiced to bat but it was a decision with proved costly after the home side lost Herschelle Gibbs (1) and Jacques Rudolph (8) inside the first 4 overs.
McGrath and Gales built a 3rd wicket partnership of 33 before Yorkshire’s skipper was dismissed by Stephen Parry in the 9th over.
With his partner back in the dug out McGrath pushed on to record his 8th Twenty20 half century on his way to an excellent 73 from just 50 balls which proved to be the back bone of the home sides innings.
