Matt Wood and David Hussey lead the Nottinghamshire Outlaws to a comprehensive 6 wicket victory over the Derbyshire Falcons at the County Ground in Derby.
The pair came together in the 7th over after Alex Hales (27) had been bowled by Robin Peterson to leave the Outlaws 49-2.
Wood and Hussey started off slowly but soon got into their stride building a 3rd wicket partnership of 95 before Hussey (65), who had record another fantastic Twenty20 half century was dismissed by Charl Langeveldt with just 9 runs needed.
Samit Patel (5) quickly departed to leave Wood the opportunity to win the game and record a well deserved half century.
Having won the toss the Falcons got off to a disastrous losing 3 wickets in the space of 7 balls after Darren Pattison and Dirk Nannes tore through the home side’s top order.
Loots Bosman (2), Wes Durston (0) and Chesney Hughes (0) were all dismissed cheaply before Greg Smith (22) and Garry Park built a 4th wicket partnership of 48 to help the home side recover after such a poor start.
Smith was bowled by Steven Mullaney in the 8th over but Park remained at the crease to record a well deserved half century to lead the Falcons fight back.
Despite the wickets of Robin Petersen (6) and John Sadler (14) the Falcons will be happy with their recovery, and, thanks to Park (66) the home side will feel they have a total their bowlers can defend.
