Zander de Bruyn scored a match winning 95 to help lead the Somerset Sabres to a 6 wicket victory over the Gloucestershire Gladiators at the County Ground in Taunton.
Having been set a total of 200 for victory the home side got off to a poor start losing Marcus Trescothick (8), Nick Compton (14) and James Hildreth (10) inside the first 8 overs.
With the home side 56-3 de Bruyn was joined at the crease by West Indian Kieron Pollard (54) and the pair built a 4th wicket partnership of 102 to take the game away from the visitors.
The pair both recorded well deserved half centuries to help the Sabres claim their third Friends Provident t20 victory.
Having won the toss the Gladiators opted to bat first and inspired by Hamish Marshall (45) and Steve Snell (50) reached an imposing total of 199-8 which would have been enough had it not been for de Bruyn’s blitz.
The middle order batsman reached 95 from just 49 delivers which included 8 fours and 5 sixes.
