The Hampshire Royals cruised to a comprehensive 7 wicket victory over the Gloucestershire Gladiators after dismissing the home side for a total of just 68.
Despite losing Michael Lumb (6), Jimmy Adams (14) and James Vince (26) the Royals reached their target with over 12 overs to spare to complete a crushing victory.
Sean Ervine (15) and Neil McKenzie (6) remained unbeaten for the Royals as the visitors completed the fastest ever victory in domestic Twenty20 cricket in England.
The speed of victory completed a miserable day for the home side, having won the toss Gladiators skipper Alex Gidman decided to bat first but it was a decision which backfired in amazing style after an inept batting display by the home team.
Having lost opener William Porterfield (5) from just the 7th delivery of the innings the Gladiators threw caution to the wind and carried on attacking the Royals bowlers only to collapse in spectacular style which saw them reduced to 36-6.
Sean Ervine (4-12) lead the way for the Royals picking up four wickets in a devastating spell of bowling which saw him claim a memorable two wicket maiden.
With the exception of Gidman (10) and Jon Lewis (19) no other batsman reached double figures as the Gladiators offered no resistant’s to record the lowest total in this years Friends Provident t20.
With the Gladiators throwing their wickets away the Royals bowlers were able to record exceptional figures with Ervine, Chris Wood (2-12) and Dominic Cork (2-9) leading the way.
