The Northants Steelbacks suffered a dramatic collapse to hand the Derbyshire Falcons a 9 run victory at the County Ground in Northampton.
Having been set a total of only 110 for victory the home side threw away the hard work put in by their bowlers by losing 5 wickets in the closing stages while adding only 23 runs.
Contributions from Chaminda Vaas (28) and Alex Wakely (37) had put the Steelbacks on the verge of victory but Nicky Boje (4), Eric Chigumbura (2), David Willey (3), David Murphy (0) and James Middlebrook (1) all contributed very little to hand victory to the Falcons.
Having won the toss the Falcons suffered a torrid time batting after openers Loots Bosman (3) and Wes Durston (3) were both dismissed cheaply inside the first 3 overs.
Although wicket keeper Lee Goddard (22) enjoyed a cameo innings the Steelbacks controlled the game with Nicky Boje (3-20) the pick of the bowlers as the visitors could only reach 109-9.
