The Gloucestershire Gladiators disappointing Friends Provident t20 campaign hit a new low after they were crushed by the Essex Eagles who claimed a 67 run victory.

Set a total of 185 for victory the Gladiators top order wilted under the pressure from the Eagles as they slumped to 32-3 after Scott Styris picked up the wickets of William Porterfield and fellow Kiwi Hamish Marshall.

Chris Dent (31) and Chris Taylor (32) offered some resistant but the home side continued to lose wickets at regular intervals to slump to defeat.

Having won the toss the Eagles decided to bat first with Alistair Cook (38), Matt Walker (66) and Styris (41) played vital roles to help the Eagles reach 184-4.
