The Gloucestershire Gladiators held on to record a thrilling 4 run victory over the Middlesex Panthers to keep alive their faint hopes of reaching the Friends Provident t20 quarter finals.

Having been put into bat by the Panthers; the home side reached a competitive total of 153-6 thanks to an unbeaten half century from Hamish Marshall (52) who was supported by skipper Alex Gidman (42).

With a total of 154 to chase the Panthers got off to a good start with David Warner (17) and Scot Newman (18) shared an opening partnership of 28.

The pair’s partnership was broken by David Payne in the 3rd over after he dismissed Warner. Newman quickly followed as the Panthers lost their way falling to 66-4.

Dawid Malan (44) and Ben Scott (25) offered some hope but the Gladiators held on to record a vital win.
